Yew Tree
Here is a selection of my solid English Yew Tree tables. Yew is a protected tree that was typically planted in Grave yards to keep out grazing animals. The Yew I use is salvaged from the veneer company that used to cut yew before the tree was protected by the E.U. Yew is extremely rare and precious as it is not grown commercially and is only available from trees that have fallen due to some natural disaster.
Yew has many mythological aspects and medicinal properties. It is very rare and unpopular because of its many ‘defects’ or irregularities as I prefer and typically most yew wood is wasted due to this. I specialize in these irregularities and am able to make the most of the material by creating work that has the longevity that the wood and indeed the whole tree deserve.
